Self-check

Eight questions

Each option shows its weight on the right — we do not hide the scale. The point is not to score high, but to see where the idea is thin.

Question 1 of 8Industry

JavaScript is off. The score will not add itself up, but the test still works: sum the points next to the options you picked. Twenty-four is the maximum; the bands are below.

Answer honestly — you are scoring this for yourself, not for us.

  1. Question 1 of 8IndustryHow close are you to the industry the idea lives in?The market the product will work in — not the technology.
  2. Question 2 of 8IndustryWhere did the idea come from?We care less about the wording than about the moment you noticed it.
  3. Question 3 of 8MarketWho pays for this besides you?Simple test: can you name names, not a segment.
  4. Question 4 of 8MarketIs this a product for a market or a system for your business? The key screening question: would anyone pay for a second copy?
  5. Question 5 of 8EvidenceHow many conversations with future users have you had in the last month?Only the ones where the other person did most of the talking count.
  6. Question 6 of 8EvidenceWhat already works without any development?A duct-taped thing someone actually uses beats any deck.
  7. Question 7 of 8CommitmentHow many hours a week will you really give the project over the next two months?Honestly — not “ideally”, but with your current job and family in it.
  8. Question 8 of 8CommitmentHow do you feel about equity instead of paying for development? It is the only way we work, so we ask up front.

Scale

How we read the result

Twenty-four points maximum, three per question. The four bands below are exactly what we tell ourselves when an application opens.

  • 78–100

    from 19–24 points

    This looks like our case

You know the industry from the inside, you have touched demand with your hands and you have the hours. This is exactly the founder profile we keep a slot open for.

  • 56–77

    from 14–18 points

Solid base, a couple of holes

The base is solid, but one or two supports rest on faith. Normal at this stage — the only bad move is building on top of the untested part.

  • 34–55

    from 9–13 points

    Early, but fixable

For now this is a direction rather than a project: there is little evidence the problem hurts anyone but you. The good news — that is testable without code or money.

  • 0–33

    from 0–7 points

Still an idea, not a project

In your place we would not start building. None of the four supports touches the ground yet, and anything built now would be expensive guesswork.

A low score is not a verdict on you

Almost every strong project started mid-scale: the industry was there, the evidence was not. The only difference is that those founders went to talk to customers instead of writing a spec. A score moves in two weeks of work — industry experience does not.
